Timeform pick out three bets from Vaal on Thursday.
Wellspring - 12:00 Vaal
Wellspring has put in plenty of solid efforts already yet is still waiting to break his duck after eight starts, with four of those seeing a place for the son of Querari. Beaten less than three lengths last time in fifth by I'm A Raptor and doing even better the race before when a length and a half fourth to Hyperactive (both those races looking well above average), today could be the day that Wellspring gets off the mark for trainer Clinton Binda.
Osculation - 12:35 Vaal
Osculation tops every shortlist for Roy Magner and Gavin Lerena and may only need to repeat her second to Varsity Princess over course and distance last time out to come home clear of this field. She has had twenty-one chances without a win now but this looks the easiest yet, and unless either of the newcomers is above average, she should break her duck.
Peacock Pie - 13:45 Vaal
Peacock Pie cost a hefty ZAR360,000 at the sales and is part-owned by trainer Mike de Kock which may tell us plenty about how highly regarded he is. A son of Visionaire out of a Fusaichi Pegasus mare, he is the subject of plenty of rumour of spectacular gallops, and first time out may be the best time to catch Peacock Pie to get a sensible price if he is even half as good as the rumours suggest, and for a stable in great form.
