Timeform pick out their three best bets from Carlisle on Thursday...

"...given her pedigree and sales price, she should be on an upward trajectory now for the Skeltons..."

Timeform on Maire Banrigh

Renwick - Carlisle 13:55

Renwick made an encouraging start in this sphere when second at Towcester in May, only getting left behind by the winner on the flat having gone second two flights from home. He looks open to improvement, and could well be the way to go in an open heat. Sole Pretender won well at Clonmel and is a big player under a penalty, whilst Trio For Rio and Imperial Aura are both interesting starting out over hurdles for good southern trainers.

Maire Banrigh - Carlisle 15:05

Maire Banrigh proved to be a completely different proposition following a breathing operation when getting off the mark at Market Rasen in May after four months off, looking much more the above-average mare that she's bred to be. She looks open to more improvement now on the right path, looking every inch the chaser in time, and given her pedigree and sales price, she should be on an upward trajectory now for the Skeltons, and gets the vote to follow up. Cause Toujours takes a drop back in class and is second choice, though Evron warrants a market check on this British debut.

Ballymalin - Carlisle 15:40

Ballymalin makes his seasonal reappearance here after a 181-day break, and he generally enjoyed a productive campaign last term, producing an excellent run to finish third in the Midlands Grand National at Uttoxeter back in March. He was keeping on when badly hampered at the last at Perth on his most recent run in April, and he looks on a fair mark this afternoon. Ballymalin has a good record fresh, and he gets the vote to start the new campaign with a bang. He's chanced to have too much for Forthefunofit and improver Ange des Malberaux, though they are other key players in this staying handicap.
