Timeform pick out their three best bets from Wincanton and Newcastle on Thursday...
"He's well-handicapped if better for a wind operation and is used to contesting stronger races than this (second in 2017 Scottish Champion Hurdle)."
Timeform on Zubayr
ZUBAYR - 13:15 Wincanton
Ifs and buts about them all, and not much between them on ratings, with a chance taken on ZUBAYR for Wincanton's leading trainer who won this in 2015 and 2016. He's well-handicapped if better for a wind operation and is used to contesting stronger races than this (second in 2017 Scottish Champion Hurdle). Eragon de Chanay got a soft lead when winning at Sandown but goes unpenalised for that and could make a bold bid from the front again. Romanor completes the shortlist.
ASKING QUESTIONS - 15:20 Wincanton
Top-weight ASKING QUESTIONS was far from disgraced in the face of a sterner assignment than this at Cheltenham last month and, re-united with Harry Skelton, he is fancied to make his presence felt, especially now back on a right-handed track (both wins going this way round). Clondaw Rigger arrives in good order but his best form has come on a much softer surface, so Mr Satco may be best placed to pose the lead threat.
WATCHABLE - 16:35 Newcastle
A very closely-matched race on ratings (only 10 lb between the whole field), but WATCHABLE gave it a good shot from the front over 6f at Kempton last week and, back at the minimum trip off the same mark here, David O'Meara's charge could be the answer. Bowson Fred will be a big threat if reproducing the form of his penultimate start at Catterick, while Only Spoofing and Landing Light both make each-way appeal.
