Timeform pick out three bets from Punchestown on Thursday.
Geneva Barracks - Punchestown 14:35
Geneva Barracks looks fairly treated on the form of his third in a C&D maiden last season and, having shaped with promise on the Flat last time, he is fancied to make a winning return to this sphere for a yard that has been in excellent form in recent weeks (two winners and two second from last nine runners). Big Ben's exploits on the level make him look nicely treated from an opening mark of 110, while Russian Roulette also comes into the equation after his impressive success last time.
Sub Lieutenant - Punchestown 16:10
Sub Lieutenant did little wrong last term, placed in three Grade 1s since the turn of the year, and this could be a good opening for him, having often shaped as if a step up to three miles would be in his favour. Minella Rocco's profile is rather shaky, but his Cheltenham Gold Cup second confirms he is a top-class chaser and he has to be the big danger here, a comment that also applies to Outlander, who doesn't have much to find if returning to the form of his Lexus Chase victory last December.
King's Song - Punchestown 16:45
King's Song showed a most willing attitude to score over fences at Southwell in June and can't have been 100% given how quickly he checked out at Newton Abbot the following month. However, he has subsequently joined a yard adept at rejuvenating such types and could be worth chancing to bounce back, with the booking of Jamie Codd a major plus in races of this nature. Black Scorpion likely has a bigger effort in his locker and heads the list of dangers along with recent Sligo second Dorkas.
