Timeform pick out three bets from the Vaal on Thursday.
Tapanzee - 11:55 Vaal
Tapanzee for the Azzie stable has some decent placed form to his name that suggests he may now be ready to win his first race. A gelded son of Tapit, he finished a length second to Edisson over seven furlongs at Turffontein in July, and followed that with a three and three quarter length third to Collabro do at the same venue over a mile, left with too much to do. If Tapanzee is ridden nearer the pace today, he has an outstanding chance in this field.
Varsity Princess - 13:05 Vaal
Varsity Princess looks the one to be on after a fine second to Osculation at Turffontein when only narrowly beaten. That was a Class E event, so this represents a drop in grade, and after just the three career starts, she may well have more to offer. Trip and track look ideal for the Leon Erasmus-trained filly and Varsity Princess stands out in this field.
Captain Chips - 15:30 Vaal
Captain Chips has been a bit of a money spinner lately for trainer Alec Laird with three placed efforts and a win from his four starts this year. He finished a two-length second to Plum British here last month, just failing to go with the winner over the 1m trip. Left on the same handicap mark, and in the same sort of company, Captain Chips is expected to resume winning ways returned to seven furlongs.
