13:55 - Phillip Hobbs has a good record in this race and his runner Antiphony is sure to be popular after finishing second on his first two starts in handicaps. However, he is usually held up, which means he may not be seen to best effect in this small field, and Dragoon Guard, who is fair on the Flat and has a pedigree for jumping, may well be worth chancing under David Noonan on his handicap debut.

14:25 - Adonis winner Zubayr takes a massive drop in class here after his below-par effort in the Triumph Hurdle (sent off at 11/2) and baring mishaps he has a very strong chance - as odds of 1/8 suggest - of extending Paul Nicholls' lead at the top of the British trainers' title.

14:55 - Favourite Dusky Lark relished the change to positive tactics when getting off the mark over fences last time, but he probably won't be able to dominate this field in the same way (two confirmed front runners) and could be worth taking on despite his obvious chance on the figures. Go Conquer is a chaser on looks and though he is yet to set the world alight for Jonjo O'Neill since leaving Donald McCain, he took a small step back in the right direction last time at Newbury over two miles (bred to want further), and with his yard now back amongst the winners, he may be worth chancing at the prices given the promise he showed when winning his bumper and his novice hurdle in 2014. Evan Williams saddled his first winner for a while at Ayr yesterday, and his It's A Steal is also worth including for the Placepot, after he had a pipe-opener over hurdles at Ludlow last time.

15:30 - It looks significant that connections are persevering with Benzel (returned from two-year absence at Taunton last month) and with Richard Johnson taking over in the saddle for his handicap debut as he is upped to a trip that should suit, he has plenty going going for him. Lime Street does not have as obvious a chance as the favourite on what he has achieved to date on Timeform ratings, but he cost a bit, should be suited by the step up to this trip, and has Nico de Boinville in the saddle for the first time, so is also worth including for Placepot purposes.

16:05 - Bun Doran remains with potential but shaped as if amiss when last seen at Newcastle (travelled well but found nothing when push came to shove) and the more solid option appears to be Emerging Talent, who has won two of his three starts (second in the other) since having a breathing operation, and has a valuable 5 lb taken off his back by the talented Harry Cobden.

16:40 - High Aspirations should be hard to beat under a penalty after showing improved form at Ffos Las last time, though it could also be worth including Lawless Island who is worth another chance on just his fourth chasing start for Tim Vaughan with Richard Johnson in the saddle for the first time.

Recommendations:
