"Eminent Poet looks the sort that Venetia Williams will do well with over the winter months, and is worth backing."

12:40- A very open affair to kick off with here. Kayf Charmer looks an interesting prospect after showing much improved form on her first start for Linda Blackford last time at Exeter, and it would be no surprise if she were able to build on that effort from this sort of mark. Norse Light is the other horse of interest for the in-form David Dennis yard, after running his best race for a while when second at Uttoxeter earlier this month. He has been dropped a further 1 lb for that, which takes him 6 lbs lower than his last winning mark, which came earlier this year, and he has strong place claims today.

13:10- The bet of this race could be Double Accord, who stepped up markedly on what he had shown in maidens on his handicap debut at Taunton last time. He stands out as the least exposed in this field, and with the services of David Noonan - who does particularly well when teaming up with Anthony Honeyball - enlisted, he looks worth a bet.

13:45- Paul Nicholls hasn't been enjoying the best of luck recently, having four seconds at Newbury yesterday, but he can get back to winning ways here with Modus, who hasn't looked the most straightforward individual in the past, but should be classy enough to win whilst conceding weight all round here.

14:20- Solstice Son shaped better than the beaten distance suggested on both of his prior starts over fences, and will be a player if ready to go after over a year off the track, with the excellent David Noonan in the saddle for the first time. Horsehill is a well-bred point winner who will likely have more to offer in this sphere at some stage, so is also worth including for Placepot purposes, in what is another open race.

14:50- Not one of this field can be completely ruled out with any confidence, with improvement a possibility all round. The one that catches the eye in a big way however is Myska, who looked something out of the ordinary when winning her maiden last month with plenty in hand. Ruby Walsh makes the trip over for just one ride, and it would be no surprise to see Myska make the journey worth his while.

15:25- There is obvious improvement to come from Royalraise on what will be his second start over fences today. As a winning pointer with some size about him, he should be able to build on his good second over C&D last time. His main rival looks to be Same Difference, who is ominously strong in the market on his first start for Warren Greatrex, after over a year away from the track. Same Difference has been given a real chance by the handicapper, and could be a big player if his new yard have managed to improve his jumping, which frequently prevented him from showing his best in the past.

15:55- Tidestream shaped well last time when fifth at Aintree, and would have finished closer but for clouting the last flight. The form of his yard is a concern though, and Eminent Poet could be the most likely winner, having shaped as if a return to this sort of trip would suit when an outpaced third at Lingfield last time. Eminent Poet looks the sort that Venetia Williams will do well with over the winter months, and is worth backing.
