"He defied an 8 lb higher mark than this at this track earlier this year..."

12:10- The defection of Peace Lilly has opened this race up nicely for a bet on Le Deluge, who is able to operate from the same mark as when winning at Lingfield on his reappearance last week. He defied an 8 lb higher mark than this at this track earlier this year, and as the only confirmed front-runner in the field, should be able to win again, with current favourite Roger Thorpe's tendency to start slowly a big concern at this track.

12:40- What Could She Be has plenty going for her here, having done well to finish fourth at Redcar last time in first-time cheekpieces, and being already proven on this surface. With Nosey Barker looking a difficult ride, What Could She Be is the most likely winner, but she has been well found in the market at around 3.02/1.

13:10- Good Trip readily overcame positional bias to making a winning debut at Nottingham earlier this month, and can take this before going on to better things. His current price is about right, however, with Battle Pride providing fairly useful opposition.

13:40- Frivolous Lady is well clear at the weights here, but couldn't be much weaker in the market, returning from six months off the track, and looks one to take on as a result. There isn't much between the rest of the field on known form, and it could be worth chancing Freeze Style, who is a half-brother to numerous winners (including a winner on this surface) and has had excuses on both his starts in handicaps.

14:10- This looks a good opportunity for the odds-on Countermand, who is related to a winner on this surface, has superior form to the rest of the field, and should improve again for the step up to 12 furlongs.

14:40- The eye-catching horse here on paper is Kelly's Finest, who boasts some solid three-year-old handicap form from the back end of her time with James Bethell, and is having her first start for Michael Appleby - a trainer with a 20% strike rate at this track - in a change of headgear. She looks worth a bet at the current price of 6.411/2.

15:10- Plenty of these have good claims in a tight sprint, with Tellovoi dangerously handicapped on old form, Pull The Pin producing his best effort for some time when returned to all-weather last time at Chelmsford, and Signorina Roseina - whose dam acted on this surface - making her fibresand debut for David O'Meara.

15:40- Culloden has been strong in the early markets, and proved he acts on this surface when second in a maiden here earlier this month. The bet of the race could be Air of York, however, who is better treated that Culloden on known form, and seems to be enjoying life for David Evans, since making the switch from Ronald Harris in September. There is a chance he has more to offer for his new yard after winning at Chelmsford last month, and as a winner on this surface for former connections, he is the value play at the current odds.
