"He is fairly treated from this sort of mark based on the pick of his form over timber, however, and is worth backing against the favourite."

14:00 - This looks an interesting contest for the time of year. CLOSEST FRIEND (5) took very well to chasing at Huntingdon earlier this year, bettering his previous form over hurdles when pulling clear with another potentially useful rival, and looks sure to go well here for the in-form Skelton team. MAJOR IVAN (7) is another who likely has more to offer in this sphere compared to over timber, and he is also worth including (was in the process of running well on chasing debut last time before falling two out).

14:30 - TOP OF THE GLAS (3) sets the standard on his second (behind a subsequent winner) at Perth at the beginning of the year and should be capable of defying a penalty following his easy novice win at Hexham last time. OUR REWARD (2) had plenty in hand last time at Sedgefield and is the obvious potential improver in the field.

15:05 - Kapstadt ran well on the weekend when second in a listed contest and is respected from the same mark but ultimately looks one to take on give the quick turnaround that he faces here. THE GREY TAYLOR (1) rather lost his way over fences after some promising early efforts and is on the comeback trial somewhat now back over hurdles. He is fairly treated from this sort of mark based on the pick of his form over timber, however, and is worth backing against the favourite. Things panned out well for VENUE (3) last time (held up in a strongly run race) but he could still run well here and is worth including his yard who are enjoying a bright start to the season.

15:40 - MOUNT VESUVIUS (7) is more known for his exploits over hurdles, but he remains well treated from this mark over fences, and showed at Stratford on his reappearance in July that he can apply himself over the larger obstacles, running on for fifth despite being poorly placed. He is worth chancing back over fences after some good efforts over hurdles.

16:15 - In a tricky penultimate leg it could be worth chancing OH SO GIGOLO (7) who was a fairly expensive purchase for Nicky Henderson as a three-year-old but failed to cut much ice in bumpers or over hurdles for that yard. Kenneth Slack has quickly built up a reputation for reinvigorating similar types, and in a very modest affair is worth siding with given that he potentially has something different to offer.

16:50 - GVS IRPORTENSA (4) failed to justify some strong support on debut at Southwell last time but is sure to have learned plenty from the experience (hung right under pressure but rallied well once the penny dropped). She seems sure to do better here and should be hard to beat.
