"The drop back to sprinting looks a good move and he is expected to go well here."
14:10 - A tricky start. The standard setter is Chevalier Du Lac, who was well below form in this grade when last seen and naturally has some questions to answer after a short break. There aren't a great deal of solid options to take him on with, however, with the other form horse in the race, Gerrard's Return, having been below form on his last three starts. COCO LA BELLE (7), whose best run came in this grade over this C&D, could be worth chancing, along with FORSTER SQUARE (2) who may also nick a place if running to the same sort of level as his third at Redcar earlier this month.
14:45 - SHUFOOG (5) found only Cote d'Azur too good in an apprentice race at York last time, and with that one having won twice since, it looks particularly strong form. Shufoog remains open to improvement on what will be just his fifth career start, and he is worth backing in a field lacking similarly unexposed types.
15:20 - TREASURY NOTES (2) has been steadily progressive in handicaps this season, and produced his best effort to date at Haydock earlier this month. He may well have the Cambridgeshire on his agenda soon, and a 5 lb rise in the weights may not be enough to stop him winning for the fourth time this season today. TWO FOR TWO (4) perhaps found the ground a little too quick last time, and enters calculations from a Placepot perspective based on his two good seconds at Ayr and Chester last month.
15:55 - An interesting feature race. MAILSHOT (4) did well to finish fifth at Goodwood last time after getting the worst of the draw, and produced another step forward despite being unplaced. His profile is largely progressive and he looks capable of making his mark at this sort of level. ALICANTE DAWN (1) was a cheap purchase for Bryan Smart but continues to progress, winning a nursery at Thirsk last time by four lengths, and he is worth a crack at this level based on that, with the potential for more to come on just his fourth start.
16:30 - EBONY N IVORY (4) looks a good early purchase for rookie trainer Archie Watson after he shaped well on handicap debut (from what seems a lenient opening mark) at Leicester last time over seven furlongs, bursting to the front inside the final two furlongs but perhaps not getting home over the trip under testing conditions. The drop back to sprinting looks a good move and he is expected to go well here.
17:05 - MUJAAMIL (5) isn't really progressing but does set the standard here and looks to have been found a good opportunity to get off the mark after finding the places on his last three starts. Aloysius Hansom was an expensive purchase and looks the one most likely to deny Mujaamil his first win.
17:35 - Thello built on some promising efforts in handicaps to get off the mark on turf in a seller here last time, and will be the one to beat here if in the same sort of form here. Mister Marcasite produced his best effort for some time when second at Nottingham last time, and he looks the obvious danger.
