13:40 - DARK AND DANGEROUS (8) is 10 lb higher in the weights than when successful under an enterprising ride at Sedgefield four weeks ago, but remains potentially very well-handicapped on pieces of old form and has shown himself to be equally effective on this softer surface. He looks sure to be involved if arriving here in the same mood and makes plenty of appeal with the Placepot in mind. He is joined by BEENO (3), who fared better than the bare result when fourth on his handicap debut at Kelso and remains open to plenty of improvement.
14:10 - MAXED OUT KING (5) was an impressive winner of his most recent outing at this venue, showing no ill effects from his victory at Sedgefield just six days earlier and ultimately defying a 7 lb penalty with the minimum of fuss. He is already a far better chaser than he was a hurdler and, with the possibility of more to come after just two starts over the larger obstacles, Maxed Out King is fancied to see off the attentions of Casual Cavalier and can complete a hat-trick for the in-form Sue Smith yard (five winners from last 15 runners).
14:40 - DUBAI ANGEL (1) still didn't look the finished article when successful on his most recent outing at Sedgefield, running around at a few flights and idling after looking to have put it to bed two-out. Indeed, he appeared to have far more in hand than the official winning margin would suggest on that occasion and, while the step up to this longer trip is an obvious concern, Dubai Angel sets a clear standard on form and should prove extremely difficult to beat if making the expected progress in this third leg of the Placepot.
15:10 - FAYETTE COUNTY (1) produced the best effort of his career to date when successful on his penultimate outing at Worcester and ran to a similar level when third from 5 lb higher in the weights at Cheltenham last time. He certainly showed enough to suggest he is up to winning again from this mark and, while the promising Bigirononhiship is an obvious danger here, Fayette County is fancied to regain the winning thread now reunited with Alan Johns and can provide trainer Tim Vaughan with yet another winner (four winners from last 13 runner).
15:40 - BELIZE (2) fared better than the bare result when third on his most recent outing at Uttoxeter, not ideally placed having raced on the worst ground along the inside and simply keeping on at the one pace to be beaten 26 lengths. He is entitled to improve with that first outing for 11 weeks under his belt and should be thereabouts if returning to the form of his Southwell victory in May. He is joined in the Placepot by CAPTAIN CLAYTON (9), who showed that plenty of ability remains when fifth here last time and should be seen to better effect over this longer trip.
16:10 - HALCYON DAYS (6) made the most of a straightforward opportunity when successful at Hexham last month and improved again to follow up under a 7 lb penalty at Carlisle just four days later. That form gives him the edge over Supreme Asset on Timeform ratings here and he remains one to keep onside in his current mood (three wins and a second from last four starts). WELCOME BEN (8) is beginning to receive some respite from the handicapper and is also considered for Placepot purposes having shaped as if back in form at Kelso last month.
