Timeform take you through the card on day two of Newcastle's Northumberland Plate meeting on Friday.

"He scored in the manner of a horse capable of making his mark in this higher grade and looks worth a bet..."

18:10 - Count Montecristo doesn't win as often as he perhaps should, but ran as well as ever when second for the fifth time in his career at Ripon recently and remains only 2 lb higher than when successful at Hamilton on his final outing of the 2015 campaign. His consistent profile makes him a solid selection in the Placepot and he is joined by the overpriced Pensax Boy, who returns to the all-weather on what looks a fair mark.

18:45 - Orion's Boy made a mockery of a 10 lb higher mark when completing the hat-trick at Thirsk 10 days ago and, with another significant hike in the weights sure to be imminent, connections have understandably taken the decision to turn him out quickly under a 6 lb penalty. He scored in the manner of a horse capable of making his mark in this higher grade and looks worth a bet as he bids to continue his fine form of late. Patrick is also considered with the Placepot in mind.

19:15 - West Coast Flyer ran respectably on his handicap/turf debut at Doncaster last time and is entitled to improve with that first outing for over three months under his belt. He had previously shaped with promise when shedding his maiden tag on this surface at Wolverhampton and - still lightly-raced after just three starts in his short career to date - he is a confident selection in this third leg of the Placepot.

19:45 - Nezwaah produced a significant career-best when third in this grade at Newbury last month, keeping on well in the closing stages and finding only a pair of similarly useful prospects too strong. That form gives her a bit to find with the likes of More Mischief on Timeform ratings, but she could yet be capable of better after just three starts and - a winner on the all-weather at Chelmsford and Wolverhampton at the beginning of the year - Nezwaah looks a worthy favourite here.

20:15 - Run To The Hills made a most promising start to his career when third at Kempton last month, unlucky to come out third best in such a tight finish and entitled to do better with that initial experience under his belt. That form leaves his rivals with 7 lb to find on Timeform ratings here and he is expected to show the benefit of that outing with a defeat of the interesting newcomer Trenches.

20:50 - American Hustle was disappointing on her penultimate start at Haydock, but that was a rare blip in a series of otherwise consistent performances and she returned to form with a good third at this venue last time. She has finished out of the first three in just two of her nine career outings to date and has to enter calculations in this final leg of the Placepot. Barney McGrew isn't as good as when winning a Group 3 here in 2010, but is also worth chancing at a fair price.

21:20 - Black Grass brought up the four-timer with a game victory at Wolverhampton on Monday (his second victory in three days) and, although it remains to be seen what those exertions will have taken out of him, he looks difficult to oppose in the final race on the card.
