17:45 - SAFE VOYAGE (4) produced the best effort of his career to date when winning over this C&D six days ago, staying on strongly to lead deep inside the final furlong and quickly asserting thereafter. He escapes a penalty for that success here and - 2 lb clear of his nearest rival on Timeform ratings - Safe Voyage should prove extremely difficult to beat if reproducing that level of form and is fancied to follow up in this opening leg of the Placepot.

18:15 - ETTU (3) was below-par when only sixth on her most recent outing at Lingfield, but raced far too freely upped in trip on that occasion and should be seen to better effect now back at six furlongs. The form of her earlier second at the same venue sets a clear standard here and Ettu rates by far the most solid proposition for Placepot purposes, with the newcomer Van Velde feared most of the remainder.

18:45 - FREDRICKA (7) returned to something like her best form when second over C&D six days ago, conceding first run to the winner and ultimately doing extremely well to finish as close as she did. She remains potentially very well-treated on pieces of old form and should be thereabouts if arriving here in the same mood. Rich Again had the selection behind when successful on his most recent outing here and looks the main danger.

19:15 - LEONARD THOMAS (7) is a reliable performer on the all-weather and gained the victory his consistency deserved over C&D seven weeks ago. He was admittedly seen to maximum effect on that occasion (held-up in a strongly-run race), but remains one to keep onside in his current mood and makes plenty of appeal with the Placepot in mind. He is joined by INDIGO PRINCESS (4), who has had excuses when below form the last twice and showed that she can be competitive from this mark when previously second at Wolverhampton.

19:45 - HARRY HOLLAND (1) took advantage of a drop in grade when successful on his most recent outing at Lingfield, finding plenty in the closing stages to hold off the sustained challenge of the runner-up and justifying strong market support in the process. That form leaves him 2 lb clear of the lightly-raced Sandstream on Timeform ratings here and, with trainer Tom Dascombe in such fine form at present (four winners from last 11 runners), Harry Holland looks the one to beat and can follow up.

20:15 - LADY BACCHUS (9) was a decisive winner of her most recent outing at Wolverhampton 11 days ago, staying on strongly to lead close home and appearing to have more in hand than the official winning margin would suggest. She has a 6 lb hike in the weights to contend with here, but could yet prove capable of better and is fancied to continue her progress on the all-weather this winter. She is is joined in this final leg of the Placepot by SUGAR TOWN (7), who was thriving when last seen in September and remains on a fair mark.

Recommendation:

Win back HARRY HOLLAND in the 19:45 at Newcastle

Placepot permutation:

17:45 - 4
18:15 - 3
18:45 - 7
19:15 - 4, 7
19:45 - 1
20:15 - 7, 9
