"Rock On Bollinski would have been unsuited by the emphasis on speed that day..."

14:00 - There is little to separate the first three in the betting here, but Amazement has the slight advantage of a recent run to his name and that could prove crucial. He was admittedly quite well-beaten when second at Wolverhampton in January, but that run still represented a step up from his initial racecourse experience at Chelmsford and he remains open to more improvement after just two career starts on the Flat. Tawdeea sets the standard on the form of his second at Sandown in July, but might just need this on his first start for the David O'Meara yard.

14:30 - Surewecan comes into this race on a 1 lb lower mark than when second at Wolverhampton on Tuesday and gave the impression that day it's only a matter of time before he strikes in a race of this nature. He hasn't won since July 2014, but he has been performing to a consistent level of late and rates a sound selection for the Placepot. He is joined by Maureb, who remains only 3 lb higher than when scoring in a better race than this at Carlisle in June and might well put up an improved performance in a visor for the first time here.

15:00 - Lopes Dancer remains unexposed after just six career starts on the Flat and looked to be the one to take out of the race when second on his return from over nine months off the track at Pontefract last time. He came clear with a pair of rivals that had the benefit of a recent run to their name that day and, having kept on well in the closing stages, he looks sure to be suited by the extended mile he encounters here. He doesn't look too harshly off a 2 lb higher mark and Lopes Dancer is a confident selection in the Placepot as he attempts to open his account on the Flat.

15:30 - Rock On Bollinski was a good third in an amatuer riders' race at Doncaster on his most recent start and the form of that race could hardly have worked out any better, with the winner and the fourth both registering victories since. Rock On Bollinski would have been unsuited by the emphasis on speed that day and, with all of his wins having come at trips in excess of 1¾m, he will be suited by a return to this longer trip. He carried his head awkwardly in the closing stages, but showed a good attitude when battling to victory at Redcar in October and should be competitive again here. Argent Knight carries a 6 lb penalty for an easy win at Wolverhampton on Tuesday and is also considered for Placepot purposes.

16:00 - Noodles Blue Boy was a winner over this C&D in September and showed he retains plenty of ability at ten-years-old with an encouraging return to action at Ripon last time. He was entitled to get tired on his first start for over six months and so it proved in the closing stages, wandering under pressure and passed by a pair of more conservatively ridden rivals. He should strip fitter for that outing and is joined in the Placepot by Classy Anne, who is back down to the same mark as when scoring at Ayr in May and would hold obvious claims if reproducing her best form.

16:30 - Dark Command failed to justify significant market confidence on his most recent start at Redcar, but he still shaped well on his return from over six months off the track and fared best of those held up with a respectable fourth. The way he plugged on in the closing stages suggests this longer trip will be in his favour and, with the application of cheekpieces also expected to bring about some improvement, Dark Command should be backed to shed his maiden tag on just his third start in a handicap. Arizona Sunrise could yet prove better than his mark and is feared most.

17:00 - A difficult contest to finish the card and marginal preference is for Lady Poppy. She is now on a mark 3 lb lower than when scoring at Catterick almost 12 months ago and has her first start for a new yard here. Trainer Jedd O'Keefe has shown himself to be well able to ready his runners after a long spell on the sidelines and, with a slight edge over her rivals on Timeform ratings, Lady Poppy is fancied to regain the winning thread here.
