13:15 - The two at the top of the market seem to be in the wrong order - at least according to Timeform Ratings - with favourite Travertine seemingly priced up more on connections than anything else, and although both he and Abbreviate remain open to improvement, it is the latter (and the one currently at a bigger price) that has achieved more. Abbreviate should be suited by this slight drop in trip, after travelling a little too powerfully for his own good at Leicester last time, and he looks a good bet at the current prices here.
13:50 - Herons Heir looks the type to excel for Dan Skelton now switched to handicaps from a fair mark based on his bumper win, after taking a step in the right direction in this sphere last time at Bangor. He will need to settle better to be seen to best effect, but this looks a good starting point for him, and it would be a surprise to see him out of the places.
14:20 - Some punters have no doubt been put off by Kalane's fall in a listed event last time at Doncaster, but it is worth remembering her brilliant jumping display at Huntingdon prior to that on her chasing debut. If we can forgive her her last effort, she looks a big price for this, now back in calmer waters and receiving weight all round, especially considering that current favourite Aso seemed a little sluggish over his obstacles on his latest start.
14:55 - The two open to most improvement here are Kassis, who battled well to get off the mark on her second start in this sphere at Bangor last time, and Hindon Road, who is clearly on a good mark based on his hurdling form, and will be a player if building on a fairly promising chasing debut, where he ultimately shaped as if he was in need of the run. Kassis is the more likely winner, but both are worth including for the Placepot, with a strong chance that they could fill the top two finishing positions.
15:30 - The form of Crosspark's third in a novice behind subsequent Cheltenham scorer Singlefarmpayment at Southwell last time is eye-catching, and he is probably a rightful favourite here. The handicapper hasn't taken many chances with his opening handicap mark on the back of that last effort, however, and there may be better treated rivals in this field, namely Cotillion, who looks on a good mark now back in handicaps, based on a couple of wins in sellers recently. Away For Slates recorded a career-best effort last time on just his second start in handicaps, and is also worth including for the Placepot, in what is a competitive affair.
16:00 - Glenarm is up 9 lbs for his easy win at Exeter last time, and although respected, does not make as much appeal as Tanarpino, who is well-in here under a 7-lb penalty for his 11-length win last time on handicap debut at Carlisle, and should be hard to beat if able to produce that sort of form again.
