"He had done nothing wrong prior to that, winning at Newcastle and Leicester (worked out well)..."

14:10 - Owen Burrows' newcomer Kowaiyess is bred to be useful but is fairly easy to back in the early exchanges and comes from a yard with just one first-time-out juvenile winner to date. MR BLACK (3) has been solid in the betting and arrives here after a promising debut effort at Thirsk last time despite being held up from a poor draw. He is sure to progress from that from a better stall position here.

14:40 - There is a strong case to be made that DRAW SWORDS (3) should be odds-on for this race, some 10 lb clear of the field on Timeform ratings with a 'p', meaning he is open to further improvement. He posted a promising third over a mile here on debut and, with plenty of proven stamina on his dam's side, he should be suited by the step up to this trip today.

15:10 - Like many from her yard, Agathonia is likely to improve for the experience of her debut where she was very green, but the standard setter here is Marco Botti's RAVEN'S LADY (13) who is the solid option following a good second over C&D last month. Silvestre de Sousa taking over in the saddle looks a positive.

15:40 - Though he has a few winners in recent days, the form of the Richard Hannon yard is still somewhat concerning, and Castellated can be taken on as favourite with this in mind. The early money for Godolphin's HERSIGH (7) could be significant. She was sent off at odds of just 11/2 for a York maiden on debut, but was badly in need of the experience. She is bred to be suited by at least seven furlongs and, related to some useful two-year-old performers, she looks worth including for the Placepot on the back of a break. CHOUMICHA (4) is a full-sister to Hugo Palmer's 2000 Guineas winner Galileo Gold, and looks one of the more interesting newcomers.

16:10 - UNSUSPECTED GIRL (7) has been thriving recently and made it two wins from her last three starts when winning at Chelmsford last week. She is under a 6 lb penalty for that success, but that shouldn't be enough to hold her back given that she won fairly cosily.

16:40 - MUSTALLIB (3) had a hopeless task from his position last time at Ascot (race took place on the stand's side and he was drawn over on the far side) and makes plenty of appeal now down in grade from the same mark. He had done nothing wrong prior to that, winning at Newcastle and Leicester (worked out well), and could yet have more to offer. Seychelloise is a consistent type but as a prominent racer drawn wide she may struggle today.

17:10 - Reaver has been knocking on the door recently and is very well-in here from the same mark as when finishing second to another three-year-old (pair clear of the field) over C&D last time. A repeat of that effort would make him very hard to beat.

17:40 - German Whip has the most attractive profile coming into the race, but the form of his two all-weather wins lacks substance, and he faces some better opposition today. Broughtons Vision won nicely over C&D last time with James Doyle on board and also remains unexposed, so could be the one to take the current favourite on with.
