13:40 - An open race. It could be worth chancing CHIEFTAN'S CHOICE (4), who has dropped to a favourable mark and caught the eye of the stewards on his penultimate start (connections found guilty of schooling in public and the horse was banned for 40 days). NORTH HILL (11) wasn't seen to best effect on his handicap debut at Ludlow last season (gave the winner a near 20-length head start and then was caught in traffic) and is also probably on a fair mark.

14:10 - Get On The Yager isn't progressing and for all that he takes a drop in grade here (well beaten in his place in Grade 2 company last time), the less-exposed AGAMEMMON (2) is preferred. Tom Lacy's horse shaped as though he'd be suited by further when finishing four over 19 furlongs last time at Taunton on his hurdling debut, so the extra two furlongs could be an important factor here.

14:40 - CAPTAIN BUCK'S (1) conceded race fitness to Bags Groove when second on his hurdling debut at Taunton last time, and though the winner let the form down slightly at Huntingdon yesterday (ran below-form when upped in grade), Captain Buck's remains with potential and is worth including. Post War is entitled to improve for his first win at Doncaster last time, but that form hasn't worked out at all, and SAVOY COURT (7) could be the second option to include for Placepot purposes. Savoy Court has some eye-catching bumper form (beat Tommy Rapper at Ffos Las), and like a few others from his yard, was disappointing on his pre-Christmas return. He remains with potential, however, and it would be no surprise to see him bounce back here.

15:10 - There is a chance that this sort of test will be on the sharp side for Vyta du Roc these days, and the progressive BRANDON HILL (3) is preferred instead. Brandon Hill is two from three over fences, having won his last two starts at Warwick and Newbury, and may well be hard to pin back from the front here once again.

15:45 - Tricky stuff. WHATTHEBUTLERSAW (15) has been consistent this season however, and bumped into one at Huntingdon last time, so is expected to be thereabouts again. There are a few unexposed sorts lurking, however, and one of the more interesting is perhaps BULFIN ISLAND (6), who shaped as if retaining his ability on his first start for two years when fourth at Plumpton last time (not unduly punished). He represents an in-form yard, and looks sure to come on for that outing.

16:15 - It's disappointing that POLITOLOGUE (1) comes here instead of taking up his entry in Warwick's Kingmaker Chase tomorrow, but it is hard to blame connections given the easy task he faces here in this graduation chase. He has plenty in hand over his sole rival and is expected to justify short odds.

16:50 - Winning pointer Whatswrongwithyou makes his Rules debut today in a race which his yard have won five times since 2010, and he is expected to be hard to beat.

Recommendation:

Win back CHIEFTAN'S CHOICE in the 13:40

Placepot permutation:

13:40 - 4, 11
14:10 - 2
14:40 - 1, 7
15:10 - 3
15:45 - 6, 15
16:15 - 1
