"It will be interesting to see how The Missus runs at Newton Abbot this afternoon, as she could provide a form boost to Goldray..."

17:05 - This may well prove to be a match between Board of Trade and Vinciaettis, who are both open to further improvement, though narrow preference is for the former seeing as the current favourite was not the most fluent at his obstacles last time at Chepstow (though that may well improve with experience as that was just his second hurdling start).

17:40 - Late Night Lilly's attitude and jumping will need to improve if she is to progress as a hurdler and it is worth taking her on with Lapalala, who looked set to get off the mark but for a final-flight fall at Exeter on hurdling debut, and although she failed to build on that when second at Newton Abbot last time, she sets a fair standard and should be in the first three. It will be interesting to see how The Missus runs at Newton Abbot this afternoon, as she could provide a form boost to Goldray, who was second to that rival at Chepstow last time (pair clear) and is worthy of inclusion for a yard who have enjoyed an excellent season.

18:10 - This decreased emphasis on stamina looks set to suit Nicholascopernicus, who was useful on the Flat for Ed Walker, and naturally looks well handicapped in this sphere from a BHA mark of 102 considering he won off 89 on the Flat in 2014. Dan Skelton saddled his 100th winner this season over the weekend and continues in excellent form, his Levelling also looks worth including as she makes her handicap debut with first-time cheekpieces fitted.

18:40 - Basford Ben and Ready Token may well cut each other's throats rather at the head of affairs (both front runners) and the one to be with could be The Mumper, who has been in good form of late and remains on a workable handicap mark based on the best of his form.

19:10 - This is an interesting handicap and there are a few appealing contenders, not least Bronco Billy who returns from a break with his yard in good form in a first-time tongue strap with Richard Johnson in the saddle. The more solid options for the Placepot, however, appears to be Ganbei, who is up 10 lb for his easy success at Kelso last time but boasts a good strike-rate and is clearly on the up, and Wake Your Dreams, who bounced back to form at Carlisle last time and is unexposed over hurdles for an in-form yard.

19:40 - Most of the field arrive with something to prove here and this is a tricky finale to the card. Halcyon Days has a slightly more convincing profile than the majority here, though, and is worth another chance to build on his much improved second start over fences (Sedgefield), after shaping like a non-stayer when upped to three miles at Kelso last time (jumped well in first-time cheekpieces before effort petered out).
