Timeform take you through the card at Hexham on Tuesday.
"A winner over this C&D in June 2014, he posted a career-best when finding one too good in a better race later that year..."
14:00 - Kid Valentine made a satisfactory debut over hurdles at Wetherby in October and the form of that effort doesn't give him too much to find with some more experienced rivals here. A winner of a point-to-point before that initial outing under rules, he seemed to appreciate a bit of ease underfoot that day and should therefore be suited by today's conditions. He returns from five months off the track today and, provided he isn't found wanting for fitness on this belated reappearance, Kid Valentine can get off the mark in this sphere at the second time of asking. He is joined in the Placepot by Veinard, who has the best form in the book and rates a safe bet to at least make the frame.
14:30 - Proud Gamble clearly failed to give his running when pulled-up in a better race at Kelso earlier this month and is worth another chance on his return to this grade. He won a similar race on his penultimate start at Musselburgh and the form of that contest has received a significant boost from the runner-up, a winner of both his subsequent starts. Proud Gamble races off just 4 lb higher here and, although his disappointing effort last time is an obvious concern, he is 2 lb clear of his rivals on Timeform ratings. A reproduction of that earlier form would give him every chance in this company and he looks worth risking with the Placepot in mind. Under The Sky is also included after his recent return to form.
15:05 - This looks to be between the first three in the market and clear preference is for the consistent Gully's Edge. A fairly useful performer in bumpers, his strength in the market suggests he was expected to make a successful hurdling debut at Catterick in January and, despite failing to justify the support on that occasion, he gave the impression that he would learn plenty from the experience. A reproduction of that effort should be good enough to see him involved at the finish here, but he looks capable of even better over hurdles and is a confident selection for the Placepot ahead of some more exposed rivals.
15:40 - Bell Weir returned to form with a creditable effort in defeat at Bangor a couple of weeks ago and looks to be on a good mark back at a venue where he has done so well. A winner over this C&D in June 2014, he posted a career-best when finding one too good in a better race later that year and comes into race on a mark 12 lb lower than for that latest victory. He is beginning to look dangerously well-handicapped and, after returning from six weeks off the track with an encouraging display last time, Bell Weir can regain the winning thread at his favourite track. Handicap debutant Dubai Devils has some fair form to his name in maidens and looks most likely to fill the forecast spot.
16:15 - The Bishop is a confident selection for the Placepot after his comfortable win over this C&D last time and can confirm the form with runner-up Spring Over on these revised terms. He was the only horse to give the winner a race on his penultimate start at Carlisle and confirmed the promise of that outing with this month's breakthrough victory over fences. He produced a career-best effort there and, although Spring Over is favoured by today's weights, the improvement the selection has made with every run in this sphere suggests he could well be capable of following up. Feast Of Fire is feared most.
16:50 - A difficult bumper to finish the card with and as always in this type of contest, the market will prove a highly informative guide. There are a few interesting newcomers in the field, but Hexham isn't the easiest of courses for an inexperienced horse and preference is for the proven form of Isle Of Ewe. She fared better than the bare result when fifth in a competitive heat at Ascot on debut and is taken to show the benefit of that initial experience with an improved display here. Tiger Mountain looks most interesting of the newcomers.
