13:00 - FREE STONE HILL (9) shaped well when third on his hurdling debut at Worcester and can be forgiven a below par effort when racing too freely at Sedgefield last time. He has been given plenty of time to recover from those exertions and, with this bigger field and likely stronger pace expected to see him in an even better light, Free Stone Hill is taken to bounce back and can take advantage of what looks a fair mark on handicap debut. He is joined in the Placepot by LOUGH KENT (6), who returned to form with an emphatic success at Newcastle last time and doesn't appear too harshly treated from just 6 lb higher in the weights.

13:35 - POLITOLOGUE (1) was impressive when making a successful chasing debut here in November and followed up in similarly dominant fashion on his most recent outing in this grade at Ascot. He has all the makings of a smart novice over fences and, although this represents by far the toughest task of his short career to date, Politologue should prove extremely difficult to beat if arriving in the same form and is taken to give weight and a beating to each of his five rivals.

14:10 - NEON WOLF (4) created a deep impression when winning a Uttoxeter bumper in December and justified his short odds with the minimum of fuss when making a successful hurdling debut at Exeter last time. The bare form of that effort gives him something to find with the principals here, but Neon Wolf has shaped as if there is still plenty to come when required and is expected to maintain his unbeaten record for the in-form Harry Fry yard (five winners from last 15 runners).

14:45 - THE NEW ONE (2) was below form when second on his most recent outing at Kempton, but had previously run as well as ever when winning the International Hurdle at Cheltenham and his record in non-Grade 1 company now stands at 15 wins from 16 starts. That includes victories in the last two renewals of this race and The New One is expected to be thereabouts once again in his hat-trick bid, with L'Ami Serge feared most of the remainder.

15:20 - VINTAGE CLOUDS (14) has finished second in each of his first three starts over fences, but there doesn't appear to be anything wrong with his attitude and he ran as well as ever on his most recent outing at Carlisle. He looks potentially very well-treated at the bottom of the weights here and should run well for a trainer with a terrific record in this race. He is joined in the Placepot by BISHOPS ROAD (8), who has now dropped to a mark just 5 lb higher than when winning the Grand National Trial here in February and represents the in-form Kerry Lee (two winners and six placed from last 15 runners).

15:50 - PISTOL PARK (3) proved better than ever when second on his most recent outing at Uttoxeter, keeping on well in the closing stages and simply finding an unexposed sort too good on the day. That form gives him the edge over Wuff on Timeform ratings here and, with the return to this shorter trip expected to be in his favour, Pistol Park appears to hold sound claims and can regain the winning thread in this final leg of the Placepot.

16:20 - AINTREE MY DREAM (8) acquitted himself well when fourth on his most recent outing in a Grade 2 at Sandown and looks the one to beat now handicapping from a fair mark, with the step up to this longer trip also expected to suit.

Recommendation:

Win back PISTOL PARK in the 15:50 at Haydock

Placepot permutation:

13:00 - 6, 9
13:35 - 1
14:10 - 4
14:45 - 2
15:20 - 8, 14
15:50 - 3
