"Mark Johnston has won the last three renewals of this race with three-year-olds..."

17:20 - MYLLACHY (10) may be 4 lb out of the weights here but still makes plenty of appeal turned out quickly after her three-quarter-length second to Foxy Boy in a nursery at Carlisle earlier in the week. Myllachy was 4 lb 'wrong' at the weights that day, too, so effectively races off the same mark here, and with this step up in trip expected to suit her based on the way she shaped that day (outpaced early and closed all the way to the line) she looks a banker for the Placepot.

17:55 - SOFIA'S ROCK (5) appreciated the step up to a mile when second at Haydock last time on her second start without looking the finished article, and she is expected to be hard to catch from the front here if taking a further step forward. She can provide Mark Johnston with yet another juvenile winner.

18:25 - OPT OUT (3) was probably still finding his feet for David O'Meara last time at Musselburgh, and it is hard to believe that his yard won't make good use of him in this sort of grade, now 4 lb below his last winning mark. Three-year-old WRIGHT PATTERSON (12) is bred to be much better than a BHA mark of 54, and could also be worth including as he makes his handicap debut for the in-form John Quinn.

18:55 - An open contest. The harder they go up front the better for WOWCHA (8), who was suited by being held up in a strongly run race at Newcastle over seven furlongs last time. The presence of the likes of Courier and Giddy in the field means they are unlikely to hang about up front, and Wowcha is worth including along with SPECIALV (7), who has shown improved form since being tried over sprint trips on her last two starts, and could yet have more to offer after winning in good style at Ayr last time.

19:25 - Mark Johnston has won the last three renewals of this race with three-year-olds, and it could prove significant that he just relies on a sole runner this evening in RENFREW STREET (15), who had been making good progress in handicaps prior to disappointing at Ayr last time after just three days off. She has been given a break since, and could resume her progress today. Fellow three-year-old LORD YEATS (12) went off too hard in front in a race on Shergar Cup day last time and is easily forgiven that. He had been making good progress prior to that and could bounce back here.

20:00 - ROCK CANYON (1) has dropped to his last winning mark and catches the eye with Clifford Lee booked for the ride. He is not the most consistent, however, and it could also be worth including along with MALAYSIAN BOLEH (5) who is having his first start for Brian Ellison and should be suited by the likely strong pace on offer here (usually held up and stays seven furlongs).
