"Ma Filleule has left something to be desired with some of her finishing efforts this season, so Kalane is preferred for Placepot purposes."

12:00- Catherines Well is sure to be popular representing top connections here, but she was seemingly beaten on merit last time at Leicester, and may not find further improvement until she tackles further. The favourite makes the market for a bet on Donna's Pride, who shaped well on her reappearance at Musselburgh last time, where she made a bad mistake at the last, and finished in third with running left. She is from a good National Hunt family and may yet have more to offer on just her second start in handicaps. Angel Face makes a quick switch to handicaps for top connections and could be the biggest danger to the selection.

12:35- Go Long did well to beat Charbel - who has since finished second in a Grade 2 - on his first start over hurdles, and he is an exciting prospect who should be suited by this step up in trip. He has a penalty to shoulder now, but should probably have enough to see off this field before potentially going on to better things.

13:10- Baltimore Rock just about sets the standard here on hurdles form, but there are others in the field with more potential in this sphere, including The Grey Taylor, who won well when dominating a small field at Carlisle last time, and Long Lunch, who offered something to work on when faring best of those ridden prominently on chasing debut at Sandown earlier this month. Another to consider is Katachenko, who should be suited by the return to this trip, but has a quirky nature, and at the prices Long Lunch looks the one to be with.

13:45- Zeroeshadesofgrey shaped as if needing the run when well beaten on handicap debut at Cheltenham last time, and although he has always shaped as though his best days would come over fences, he commands plenty of respect over hurdles from this sort of mark, considering that both of his best novice performances came over this C&D last season. He has been well found overnight, and although the most likely winner, is probably just worth watching at the current price, in what is a competitive heat.

14:20- This is a fascinating mares contest, with last year's Ryanair second Ma Filleule setting the standard above the smart Pepite Rose and the exciting Kalane, who could not have been much more impressive in the jumping department on debut last time at Huntingdon. Ma Filleule has left something to be desired with some of her finishing efforts this season, so Kalane is preferred for Placepot purposes.

14:55- In stark contrast to the last race, this looks spectacularly uncompetitive, with Pemba's only real danger - Live Miracle - now declared a non-runner, and it looks a straight forward task for Alan King's filly.

15:25- Ziga Boy has won just once from his 10 starts on these shores, and has flattered to deceive on multiple occasions. He has been given a chance by the handicapper and is now 2 lbs lower than the mark he won off, but his tame finishing makes him one to take on once again in this race. Wild Bill looks the horse to take on the current favourite with, after he won with a fair bit in hand last time on just his second chasing start. He now has a 8-lb rise to contend with, but it would be no surprise to see him go in again.
