"He appeared to relish the drop back to six furlongs that day and can take advantage of what looks a favourable draw in stall 3..."

14:30 - AIMEZ LA VIE (1) still looked in need of the experience when second at Lingfield last month, wandering when hitting the front with two furlongs to run and not putting the race to bed as had looked likely. The winner wasn't disgraced when seventh in the May Hill Stakes at Doncaster next time, though, and - open to more improvement after just two starts - Aimez la Vie is fancied to show the benefit of that latest outing and can defy a wide draw in this opening leg of the Placepot.

15:05 - TOMILY (1) created a good impression when successful at Brighton and Chepstow earlier in the campaign and has been given plenty of time to recover from a below par effort in the Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot in June. He raced closer to the speed than was ideal in a strongly-run race that day and, with the in-form Hollie Doyle taking off a valuable 5 lb, Tomily is expected to bounce back to his best here and is preferred to Sandown winner Big Lachie in the Placepot.

15:40 - MIRACLE OF MEDINAH (3) produced his best effort for some time when second at Doncaster 15 days ago and certainly showed enough to suggest he will remain competitive off a 3 lb higher mark. Lulu Stanford keeps the ride and he looks sure to be thereabouts in this third leg of the Placepot, a comment that also applies to MAJESTIC MOON (7). He fared better when dropped into this grade at Leicester last time and can confirm the promise of that effort with a big run here.

16:15 - FLOWER OF LOVE (7) shaped as though in need of the experience when fourth on her racecourse debut at Kempton and showed the benefit of that initial outing with an improved effort to finish second over this C&D last time. That form leaves her rivals with 4 lb to find on Timeform ratings here and Flower of Love should prove extremely difficult to beat if reproducing that level of form, with no obvious reason why Casablanca should reverse the form of last time with the selection.

16:50 - SOPHISTICATED HEIR (9) proved better than ever when successful on just his second start for the Michael Herrington yard at Wolverhampton seven days ago, travelling strongly in the leaders slipstream throughout and quickly forging clear once asked for his effort in the final furlong. He appeared to relish the drop back to six furlongs that day and can take advantage of what looks a favourable draw in stall 3, with Musharrif an obvious danger on the back of a commanding success at Beverley last time.

17:25 - WELFORD (2) is beginning to receive some respite from the handicapper and produced arguably his best effort of the current campaign to date when third at Beverley 10 days ago. He has often shaped as if this longer trip would be within his range and, with the possibility of more to come in blinkers for the first time, Welford is fancied to see off the attentions of Dino Velvet and can regain the winning thread in this final leg of the Placepot.
