Taunton Placepot: Tuesday February 17

Racing comes from Taunton on Tuesday afternoon.

There's decent jumps racing from Taunton this afternoon and that's where we head for Tuesday's attempt at the Placepot...

Lac Sacre looks well handicapped based on his third at Lingfield in January (winner and second have both won since), and will appreciate this slight drop in trip from his last outing at Ffos Las on much more testing ground.

14:10 - Cresswell Breeze is an interesting contender upped markedly in trip off the back of a strong race at Wincanton, where she was well beaten by some useful opposition. For place purposes however, it may pay to side with the seemingly consistent Aroseforoscar, who was narrowly denied under a penalty over course and distance last time out, and may benefit from the return of her decent young claimer, back from a short break.

14:40 - Avispa looks a solid contender to at least make the places for the fourth time in her hurdling career, after being a promising winner of a listed mares bumper at Aintree last year.

15:10 - Lac Sacre looks well handicapped based on his third at Lingfield in January (winner and second have both won since), and will appreciate this slight drop in trip from his last outing at Ffos Las on much more testing ground.

15:45 - A competitive affair in which Fox Norton's third in the Grade 1 Punchestown Four-Year-Old Hurdle catches the eye, with the likes of Kitten Rock (Now Timeform rated 156) in behind him that day. He looked to have needed his reappearance in November, and provided he handles the softer ground today he should get involved with a 3lb drop in the weights and the excellent Noel Fehily back on board. Tornado In Milan's demolition job off a 15-lb lower mark over course and distance last time out also puts him in the mix for the places.

16:15 - This trappy contest deserves a couple of lines, the first being the risky Don't Panic, who returns to the venue of his novice hurdle win, 9lb lower than his ceiling BHA mark. This classy flat horse could be dangerous if handling the step up in trip provided he is in the mood for racing. The second selection is Taroum, who ran well enough off a 17-lb higher mark in his only prior visit to this track when finishing fourth in 2012 over this distance. He has yet to show much for his new yard, but they appear to have hit a rich vein of form since, and improvement is expected.

16:45 - Hector's Choice and No Loose Change are both well clear of the others here on chasing ratings, the former however was most effective over shorter distances, so the Nicholls horse gains a tentative vote for place purposes.

Selections:

14:10- 5
14:40- 2
15:10- 2
15:45- 2, 3
16:15- 10, 11
16:45- 2
