Nick Shiambouros was out of luck again yesterday when his best bet Animore finished second at BSP 29.85. Nick hopes to end his current stint in the chair with a couple of winners from Taunton and Musselburgh...
"The handicapper has given him an excellent chance, and is attractively priced at 8.27/1 on the exchange"
Expense a bargain
14:35 Taunton - At Its Own Expense
At Its Own Expense should go close in this interesting contest.
This gelding created a favourable impression on hurdles debut when finishing third to Before Midnight over this course last month. He was collared over the final flight but kept on well to hold on to a place. I thought this was a super effort, and has every right to move forward. At present he is trading at 3.65 on the exchange which is more than fair.
Airton is the current favourite at 2.789/5 on the exchange. He fought gamely when rallying to beat Scaramanga over this course earlier this month. I think he probably needs further, and has to carry a penalty which could prove problematic.
Buckled a nice fit
15:20 Musselburgh - Buckled
Buckled could run well at a decent price in this long distance handicap hurdle.
This gelding was pulled up behind Jet Master over this course last month. This run is best forgotten as he reportedly broke a blood vessel. He has some decent form in the book, notably when finishing third to Jack Devine last November. The handicapper has given him an excellent chance, and is attractively priced at 8.27/1 on the exchange.
Ballynanty is the main danger. He put in a much improved effort when beating Rainy City over this course last month. He clearly has more to offer, and is the current favourite at 2.982/1 on the exchange.
