Nick Shiambouros was on the mark yesterday when the well-backed Headway won at Lingfield. Nick returns with two selections from the Sunday meeting at Southwell...
"I think he is sitting on a big effort and is attractively priced at 11.521/2 on the exchange"
Back Blistering Dancer in the 14:15 at Southwell
14:15 Southwell - Blistering Dancer
I am going to take a chance with Blistering Dancer in this sprint handicap.
He is not the easiest horse to win with, but has been running well over the Fibresand this year. He finished an excellent second to Declamation in January, and was narrowly beaten two starts back when finishing second to Coiste Bodhar. He has yet to win over the minimum trip, but will benefit from the expected fast pace. I think he is sitting on a big effort and is attractively priced at 11.521/2 on the exchange.
Ruth Carr sends out current favourite Kingstreet Lady who is trading at 3.55 on the exchange. She finished a close second to Archimedes over this course last month and will not be far away.
14:45 Southwell - Kripke
Kripke looks like the horse to beat in this maiden.
This gelding finished a respectable third to Casey Jones at Newcastle last month. He put in some good work in the closing stages and finished the race with good energy. The winner is unbeaten in two starts and has a progressive look about him. He was only beaten a nose on his previous start over this course which reads well in the context of this race. This looks like the perfect opportunity for him to get off the mark and is fairly priced at 2.915/8 on the exchange.
Dawn Dancer is the short priced favourite at 2.3211/8 on the exchange. He was firmly put in his place when finishing second to Silchester over this course last month. In truth he looked a little one paced and may be suited by further. He looks short enough.
