Southwell is the only domestic action on Sunday and Nick Shiambouros returns with two decent priced selections from the East Midlands course...
"I think he is sitting on a big effort ,and is fairly priced at 5.04/1 on the exchange"
Kommander Kirkup to rule
13:35 Southwell - Kommander Kirkup
Course specialist Kommander Kirkup could run well at a decent price in this competitive handicap.
This gelding was a no show behind Athollblair Boy at Newcastle earlier this month. He weakened quickly a furlong from home ,and finished last of the nine runners. That run is best forgotten as it was a better race. He has four course and distance wins here, and is fairly handicapped if he puts his best foot forward. At present he is trading at 13.5.
Muatadel is an interesting runner. He put in a much improved effort when finishing fourth to Mooroverthebridge at Wolverhampton last month, but is unproven over this surface. If he handles the Fibresand, he would be a threat to all. At present he is trading at 7.87/1 on the exchange.
Foolaad no mug
14:45 Southwell - Foolaad
Another course specialist Foolaad should make his presence felt in this interesting contest.
This consistent performer finished second to Midnight Malibu over this course last month. He delivered a strong challenge inside the final furlong, and was only just denied by the game winner. He won four races over this course at about the same time last year which is significant. I think he is sitting on a big effort, and is fairly priced at 5.04/1.
Ornate heads the market at 3.39/4. He finished an excellent second to Encore D'Or at Newcastle last month, and comes in to this race in good order. He is the main danger to the selection, but has risen in the weights which could prove problematic.
