Nick Shiambouros is back with two strong fancies from the sole domestic meeting at Leicester...
"I think he is sitting on a big effort and should go very close."
13:35 Leicester - Like A Diamond
I am going to take a chance with Like A Diamond in this seller.
This gelding finished down the field behind Western Wave in a novices' handicap hurdle at Carlisle last month. He attempted to make all, but was collared two from home and was easily brushed aside. He has run respectably in better company, and was once rated at 85 on the level.
I think he will appreciate the ease in grade, and could stretch this field if allowed an uncontested lead. He is currently trading at 5.59/2 on the exchange which is more than fair.
Istimraar is the favourite at 4.57/2. He was beaten a long way in a chase last time out but has run well in this sphere. The issue I have with him is his poor win-to-run ratio. He only has one victory to his name in 22 attempts over hurdles. Not for me.
14:05 Leicester - Saint Cajetan
Saint Cajetan should run well in this interesting contest.
This gelding put in a much improved effort when finishing second to Scotchtown at Wetherby last month. He ran on really well in the closing stages, but the winner proved the stronger near the line. The front two finished well clear of the remainder. The winner has since gone on to win again under a penalty.
I think he is sitting on a big effort and should go very close. He is currently trading at 4.67/2 on the exchange.
Westendorf is the favourite at 2.962/1. He was just about to deliver a challenge when coming to grief two from home behind Joe Farrell at Ffos Las earlier this month. I am not totally convinced he would have won and his price appears to be a little thin.
