"...this looks an ideal opportunity for him on his seasonal return before moving back into Grade 1 company..."
Timeform on Kalashnikov
Kalashnikov - 15:00 Aintree
The likeable Frodon returns to defend his crown, but is 11 lb higher in the weights this time round, and has to give a stone to the progressive Kalashnikov, who enjoyed his greatest day when winning the Manifesto Novices' Chase over this C&D on his final start. He was well suited by the step up in trip on that occasion, and this looks an ideal opportunity for him on his seasonal return before moving back into Grade 1 company.
Chapmanshype - 14:25 Aintree
This looks a competitive race of its type and Chapmanshype, who is chasing a four-timer, is sure to be popular, but could prove vulnerable to some equally-progressive types. Therefore it could be worth taking him on, with the likes of Hey Bud - who may have been let in lightly on handicap debut - and another handicap debutant Hear No Evil big dangers.
Lossiemouth - 12:40 Aintree
£61.01 - Tom Lacey's profit to a £1 level stake when having only one runner on the card (hurdles)
Tom Lacey does well with his horses in bumpers and Lossiemouth is a successful graduate from that sphere who is now making his hurdling debut. Admittedly, this looks a hot race, but Lossiemouth showed useful form in winning a couple of bumpers last season, and will be suited by this longer trip now sent jumping. The yard are in good form and he commands respect being Lacey's only runner on the card.
