Nick Shiambouros returns with two strong fancies from Uttoxeter and Exeter...
"He makes his debut for trainer Dan Skelton who does well with these types"
14:45 Uttoxeter - Beast Of Burden
Beast Of Burden is an interesting runner in this handicap hurdle.
This lightly raced eight-year-old lost his way when trained by Rebecca Curtis, failing to complete the course four out of his last five outings. Back in his novice days he was a pretty decent hurdler and appeared to have a bright future. He makes his debut for trainer Dan Skelton who does well with these types. Who can forget Too Many Diamonds who rattled off a four- timer after transferring from Clare Ellam this spring. At present he is trading at 3.7511/4 on the exchange, but could trade shorter nearer the off.
Ice Cool Champs is the danger. He finished a closing third to Diamond Fort at Wetherby on his seasonal reappearance. The longer trip should suit and is the current favourite at 2.8615/8.
15:25 Exeter - Mercenaire
Mercenaire should prove difficult to beat in this juvenile hurdle.
This gelding showed some promise when finishing down the field in a conditions hurdle in France on his only start. He was in the middle of the pack before weakening out of contention two flights from home. This is a pretty modest event, but has shown me enough to suggest he has this race at his mercy. At present he is trading at 2.3411/8 on the exchange.
Harbour Force is the second choice at 3.55. He has been on the go for most of the year, and failed to complete the course on his latest start. He has bits and pieces of form, but I think the selection will have his measure.
