Timeform Irish SmartPlays: Sunday 25 November

Gordon Elliott
Sunday's feature at Navan is the Troytown Handicap Chase

Timeform pick out their three best bets from Navan on Sunday, including in the feature, the Troytown...

"She got first run on her rivals when scoring at Gowran last month, but she could still be open to progress yet...."

Timeform Yukon Lil

Out Sam - Navan 14:30

This year's renewal of the Troytown is once again a heinously difficult assignment from a betting point of view, and whilst it may seem to be a big clue that Gordon Elliott has won the last four renewals of this, the fact he sends 11 runners muddies those waters. The best of his runners though looks to be Out Sam, and he arrives here on the back of victory in the Cork National, in which he gave the impression that he could well be open to more improvement now that his connections have found the key to him. He hasn't always been the easiest to train, but he could still be on a workable mark off 8 lb higher than last time, and, at the current prices, he looks worth chancing to continue the good work.

De Name Escapes Me - Navan 15:00

De Name Escapes Me was impressive when winning a 13-runner handicap at Naas 2 weeks ago, leading on the bridle two out before drawing clear after the last to score by over four lengths. He's lightly raced for his age and remains unexposed, with the return to further very much a plus. He gets the vote to win again ahead of Pass The Ball, another in fine fettle at the moment, who can pick up some place money.

Yukon Lil - Navan 15:30

This listed bumper looks an up-to-scratch renewal on paper, and it is Willie Mullins, who has won three of the past five renewals, who seemingly has the strongest hand once again. Two of his take their chance, but preference is for Yukon Lil, who already has four starts under her belt, and is fancied to pick up a third career win. She got first run on her rivals when scoring at Gowran last month, but she could still be open to progress yet. Stable-mate Queen's Boulevard is perhaps the next best, whilst Barrington Court and Ballydunblaze are interesting, too.
