Bets Of The Day: Kentuckyconnection to take Pontefract feature
Nick Shiambouros hopes to end the week on a winning note with a decent priced selection and a short priced lay from Pontefract...
"This likeable individual has run creditably in this company, and is attractively priced at [9.2] on the exchange"
14:20 Pontefract - Savannah's Dream
I will be laying Savannah's Dream in this maiden.
This filly ran a blinder when finishing second in the Windsor Castle last month. She raced on the far side and kept on well inside the final furlong to grab second right on the line. This was a huge effort, but the ground was testing and I am inclined to take this piece of form with a pinch of salt.
Taking literal form in testing conditions is not for me, so I will be pushing the lay button at around [1.7] on the exchange.
My idea of the winner is Hemingway who ran well on debut when finishing fifth to Timeless Flight at York. He was not beaten all that far and is open to improvement.
16:00 Pontefract - Kentuckyconnection
The three-year-old Kentuckyconnection could run well at a decent price in this interesting Listed event.
This Include colt ran the race of his life when finishing fifth to Galileo Gold in the 2,000 Guineas at HQ in May. He put in some decent work in the closing stages, but never had a realistic chance of troubling the judge.
This likeable individual has run creditably in this company, and is attractively priced at [9.2] on the exchange. In addition the stable is going great guns which is an added bonus.
The short priced favourite is Convey who is trading at [2.02]. He flopped in the Hunt Cup at the Royal meeting but ran well on his next start behind Mutakayyef in the Summer Mile at Ascot.
He has the form in the book to take this, but does not appear to be entirely straightforward and is easily passed over at his current price.
