Fox Hill - 14:00 Hamilton

Fox Hill was value for extra when getting back to winning ways on her most recent outing at Catterick, helping to force a strong pace and keeping on well under the circumstances to win as comfortably as she did, doing much the best of those ridden prominently. Eric Alston's charge also looked much more professional that day than has often been the case, with today's pilot Jason Hart replacing a 5 lb claimer in the saddle, and it would be no surprise if she proved capable of even better now that the penny has dropped, so much so that a 6 lb higher mark is highly unlikely to prove beyond her.

Sizing Granite - 16:15 Plumpton

Sizing Granite looks worth taking on here under the welter burden of 12-3. Admittedly, it is hard to fault his recent form with back-to-back wins at Newton Abbot to write home about, but he has another 8 lb rise in the weights to contend with now, and, unlikely to be getting any better at the age of 11, it will take an effort verging on his smart best for him to complete the hat-trick. The likelihood of him getting back to that level is slim enough to make him opposable at around 2/1, with all three of his rivals appealing as viable alternatives, not least the much younger legs of Young Wolf, who remains with an air of untapped potential over hurdles (especially at 3m+).

Smart Stat
Jeffrey Harris - 15:00 Hamilton

21% - Daniel Tudhope's strike rate at Hamilton

Daniel Tudhope has an excellent record when riding at Hamilton, and it could be worth taking a chance on the first of his four rides on today's card in the shape of Jeffrey Harris. It's fair to say that his strike rate doesn't inspire much confidence with only one win from 19 career starts, but he shaped better than the bare result when eighth at Musselburgh last time, likely to have finished much closer but for the trouble he met inside the final furlong, and there is no doubting that he is up to winning from this mark sooner rather than later for Jim Goldie, who will be hoping for better luck than when saddling four seconds at Ayr this week.
