GREENGAGE caught the eye when finding only one too good on his most recent outing at Ayr, enduring trouble in-running in the straight and doing well under the circumstances to finish as close as he did, never nearer than the half a length he was beaten at the line. He certainly showed enough to suggest that he is coming to the boil for his new connections (yard has done well with similar recruits), and granted more luck this time round, it will be disappointing if he can't go one better from only 1 lb higher, for all that Effernock Fizz looks potentially well treated if carrying through the recent improvement she has made over hurdles.

SOME DAY SOON clearly arrives here in top form having completed a hat-trick in some style at Hexham last month, but it is questionable what he beat that day, with those who have raced since not really advertising the form, and, in truth, he probably didn't need to improve to justify odds of 4/1-on. Another step forward is likely to be needed here, though, with the equally promising Ruthless Article in opposition, and the task of trying to concede 10 lb to that rival could just prove too tough for Some Day Soon, making him an attractive lay at a shade of odds-on.

CAIUS MARCIUS is really getting the hang of chasing now and identified himself as one to follow with a dominant success at Hexham last time. Admittedly, the bare form of that effort is a bit shy of what Ennistown has achieved, but that rival has been doing his racing over longer trips than this, and Caius Marcius could prove tough to peg back if getting an uncontested lead again here, with every chance that Brian Hughes will try and dictate at a steady gallop, before using his mount's superior tactical speed in the sprint for the line. Representing the Nicky Richards yard that has an excellent record when second only one runner to a meeting, he can take his record over fences to three wins from four starts.
