Timeform Irish SmartPlays: Sunday 21 July
"...a similar effort should see him get his head in front..."
Timeform on Soldier's Call
Timeform pick out their three best bets from the Curragh on Sunday...
Na Blianta Beo - 14:00 Curragh
Jim Bolger has saddled two of the last four winners of this maiden and Na Blianta Beo could be another for the yard. She ticks all the right boxes on paper and confidence levels will heighten if the market speaks in her favour. Fellow newcomers Tasalka and French Rain are likely-looking types, too, while Blissful has shown signs of promise and this well-bred filly remains capable of better.
Soldier's Call - 15:10 Curragh
Soldier's Call was only beaten by a couple of top-class sprinters in the King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot last time and a similar effort should see him get his head in front dropping into lesser company. That said, El Astronaute won't make things easy for him and Equilateral would be a danger if back to the sort of form he showed in the Palace House on his penultimate outing.
Il Paradiso - 17:30 Curragh
Il Paradiso showed useful form last season and didn't need to improve to open his account on return at Leopardstown in May, and was thrown in too deep when contesting the Irish Derby here last time. Aidan O'Brien does well with handicap debutants, and this longer trip should suit also. An opening mark of 89 looks workable, and he can take advantage of the weight he receives now taking on his elders.
