Nick Shiambouros was out of luck yesterday, but hopes to round off the week with a couple of winners from Market Rasen and Ffos Las...
"I think she has ability, and her conditioner appears to have found the perfect opportunity for her to score on hurdles debut"
14:00 Market Rasen - Queen Odessa
Queen Odessa should prove difficult to beat in this interesting race.
This mare finished down the field in a Listed bumper at Cheltenham last November. She began to feel the strain three furlongs from home and quickly weakened out of contention. This was a pretty decent bumper and this run is best forgotten. She is best judged on her previous effort at Doncaster over a year ago when making all to defeat Kayf Grace. I think she has ability, and her conditioner appears to have found the perfect opportunity for her to score on hurdles debut.
Treackle Tart could be the main danger. She put in a much improved effort last time out when finishing second to Sister Sibyl at Leicester, and has every right to move forward once again. At present she is trading at 4.77/2 on the exchange.
16:50 Ffos Las - Coroner's Report
I am going to take a chance with Coroner's Report in this competitive handicap hurdle.
This gelding finished a distant fourth to odds-on Ice Cool Champs in a maiden hurdle at Hereford earlier this month. He had a chance two flights from home, but was found wanting when the pace lifted. I thought that was a fair effort, and could make his presence felt on his handicap debut. This is not a particularly strong race and could surprise at a big price. He is currently trading at 9.89/1 on the exchange which is more than fair.
Try It Sometime is worth mentioning. He finished a creditable second in a chase earlier this month and is a course winner. He has a poor win-to-run ratio, but must be respected.
