Nick Shiambouros is back with a couple of strong fancies from Exeter and Ayr...
"The testing conditions should not pose a problem for him, and is fairly priced at [3.85] on the exchange"
Samburu Shujaa should make his presence felt in this interesting novices' hurdle.
This gelding caught the eye on hurdles debut when finishing third to Darcy Ward at Taunton last month. He ran on strongly over the final flight, and managed to run in to a place near the line. I thought that was a promising effort and major improvement is expected. The testing conditions should not pose a problem for him, and is fairly priced at [3.85] on the Exchange.
Blu Cavalier is the favourite at [2.12] on the Exchange. He finished a creditable second to If The Cap Fits over this course last October, which reads well in the context of this race. My main concern is that he has yet to race on ground this soft. His price is a little thin in my opinion.
Cubomania should go close for trainer Gordon Elliott.
He was a little disappointing on his latest start when finishing a distant fifth to Knockraha Pylon at Thurles last month. He held every chance three flights from home, but found little and was easily brushed aside. He is best judged on his previous effort when winning a handicap hurdle in good style at Tramore. He has winning form on the ground, and should get back to winning ways in this company. At present he is trading at [3.85] which is more than fair.
Grand Morning is the obvious danger. He beat Nando in a maiden hurdle over this course, but did not jump with any real fluency. He looks short enough in the market at [1.99].
