Alan kept his run going yesterday with his best bet Fireglow going in at Newmarket, today he has two selections from Carlisle and Huntingdon...
"I am sure he wouldn't run the seven-year-old gelding unless he was convinced he had recovered fully from Thursdays race."
I think today feels a little bit of "after the lord mayors show", we had some excellent racing in the UK yesterday followed by the brilliant Breeders Cup meeting at Keeneland last night. However, while it may not be the same quality there are still a couple of runners I am interested in seeing today.
Conor Dore is running A Little Bit Dusty again today just three days after he won a similar event at Southwell on Thursday. A race in which the front two pulled a long way clear of the rest of the field and A Little Bit Dusty managed to hold on to claim his second win from just four runs over Hurdles this season.
This time Dore has booked the services of the very much in form and top jockey Richard Johnson to do the steering and I am sure he wouldn't run the seven-year-old gelding unless he was convinced he had recovered fully from Thursday's race.
This race doesn't look to have too much strength in depth and the main challengers should be Tiradia, who while has previous course and distance form has only won two of his 29 starts over hurdles and Fair Loch who could be the biggest danger despite finishing sixth of 10 last time out, beaten 11 lengths. I think A little Bit Dusty should have the beating of these today.
15:10 Carlisle - Out Sam 3.613/5 Exchange
We haven't seen Out Sam since the Cheltenham festival last year, where he fell in the Albert Bartlett, but prior to that he won back-to-back novice events while with Nicky Henderson. Today is his first run for trainer Warren Greatrex. Warren is in great form at the minute saddling four winners from his last seven runners
Out Sam has to give weight away all around today but it will be interesting to see how he gets on, he is an imposing looking horse who has a lot of improvement still to come and looks a real chaser in the making. At around 3.613/5 on the exchange I think he is a worthy favourite and even if today isn't his day, he is a horse I will be keeping on the right side of for the future.
