Timeform on Doctor Phoenix

Doctor Phoenix - 15:40 Gowran Park

Whilst Doctor Phoenix hasn't won since February 2018, the fact he is taking his chance here this afternoon is a tip in itself, considering that he had plenty of potential options at the Cheltenham Festival. Admittedly, his run to finish second in a Grade 3 at Naas last time was complimented by the lack of opposition, being well beaten by the winner, but that was still a useful performance, and he could be on a good mark no back handicapping. The soft ground will suit, with any late rain a bonus, and he's fancied to take a step forward from his recent form. Ex Patriot came good at the third time of asking over fences last month and is respected off what looks a fair opening mark.

Sizing Coal - 16:50 Gowran Park

Sizing Coal is a consistent performer in hunter chases, and he returned to form on his reappearance when second at Down Royal in December, not able to respond to the winner late on, but giving the impression he will continue to give a good account here. In what looks only a fair contest, he looks a solid proposition here. Fenno's Storm is closely matched with the selection on Rules form and Salsify is always one to consider in this sort of company.

Minella Melody - 17:25 Gowran Park

While there's very little Rules form to go by, plenty of these have point wins to their name, and with that in mind, Minella Melody is fancied to strike. She scored readily on her debut between the flags in December, and her confidence in the market this morning is a big clue that a big run is expected from Henry de Bromhead's mare. Her stablemate Full Time Score is another interesting runner, while Saint Benedict and Miss Pernickety also rate likely types for good stables.
