Nick Shiambouros returns with two selections from Newcastle and Lingfield on a chilly Saturday...
"He comes in to this race in good order and should go close for his astute conditioner"
Back Tyrell in the 16:20 Newcastle
15:30 Lingfield - Headway
Headway should prove difficult to beat in this Listed contest.
This talented performer finished an excellent third to Sands Of Mali in the Gimcrack at York last August. He held every chance two furlongs from home, but failed to quicken when the pace lifted. He was narrowly beaten in the Coventry last summer, and is the clear form choice. At present he is trading at 2.68/5 on the exchange which is about right.
Lansky is the obvious danger. He has run creditably in Group company and will appreciate the ease in grade. In form trainer Jeremy Noseda has booked the services of Ryan Moore for this likeable colt. At present he is trading at 2.68/5 on the exchange.
Timeform's Shortlist has verdicts on all the races at Lingfield today.
16:20 Newcastle - Tyrell
Tyrell is my idea of the winner of this bumper.
This gelding bounced back to form when beating Aaron Lad in a handicap hurdle at Catterick last month. He took the lead two flights from home and kept on strongly to win with authority. He was rated 72 on the level and won a couple of handicaps. He comes in to this race in good order and should go close for his astute conditioner. At present he is trading at 4.03/1 on the exchange which is more than fair.
Golden Jeffrey heads the market at 3.02/1 on the exchange. This dual bumper winner was last seen at Cheltenham in November when finishing down the field in a competitive handicap hurdle. He is a worthy favourite but may not be fully wound-up for this.
