Timeform pick out three bets from three different venues on Saturday...
Big Country - 15:35 Newmarket
Big Country continues to progress, finishing an excellent second in the John Smith's Cup last time and leaving the impression that an even stronger gallop would suit him (which he should get here). All his form to date has come on a faster surface but he should be fine with some cut in the ground, and he looks to have a good chance. Thundering Blue is much feared with his latest Sandown win boosted by the runner-up landing a listed race earlier in the week. Brorocco, El Hayem and Chelsea Lad are also shortlisted in what is a typically ultra-competitive renewal.
Persistence - 17:25 Chester
Liquid Gold looks to have more to offer but is far from ideally drawn in stall 10, which may swing things the way of Persistence, who makes her handicap debut from what looks a potentially lenient opening mark. Persistence travelled best when third behind the rapidly progressive Torcello at Salisbury last time, and looks a sure-fire improver now back off a break. Caravela is similarly unexposed and looks another danger.
Burcan - 18:50 Chelmsford
Burcan is two from three since joining this yard and progressed again to win at Lingfield when last seen in December. He just got away with the mile and a half trip that day, and will be suited by a return to a mile and a quarter here. A winner when fresh in the past, he may have even more to offer as a five-year-old and looks the most likely winner of this. Dark Red is another C&D winner and can return to form back at this venue. Ickymasho's record here entitles him to respect also.
