Timeform pick out three bets from Sandown on Saturday.
Doing Fine - 15:35 Sandown
Doing Fine has only had a handful of starts for the excellent Neil Mulholland yard and produced his best effort when winning over this trip at Cheltenham ten days ago. He faces a quick turnaround here, which is a minor concern, but he is too well treated to ignore from the same mark. The main danger could be Sugar Baron, who got no further than the first flight when unseating in the Scottish Grand National last week. He'd been well supported in the market prior to that, and remains open to further improvement.
L'Ami Serge - 16:10 Sandown
There are some doubts over L'Ami Serge's resolution, but he arrives here on the back of two solid runs in handicaps from big weights, and in what looks a pretty weak field for a Grade 2 event, could be the dart that sticks from the four thrown by Nicky Henderson here. Paul Nicholls has three in the race himself, and the pick of those is probably Modus, who has come a long way this season in terms of his professionalism, and after a good run in the Coral Hurdle last time from a mark of 156, looks worth his place at this level.
Shantou Village - 16:45 Sandown
Shantou Village has long been well regarded, being sent off favourite for the 2016 Albert Bartlett at the Cheltenham Festival only to be struck into (pulled up). He has completed three simple tasks at odds-on during his four chase starts to date (fell on the other occasion), and this will be much tougher, but he does arrive here completely unexposed and fresh, so makes appeal from a mark that could prove very lenient. The dangers include Poker School, whose Kempton win at Christmas has worked out very well.
