15:25 Newcastle - Tomngerry
Tomngerry should give a good account of himself in this interesting contest.
This former point winner put in a workmanlike performance on his hurdles debut when beating Bigirononhiship at Wetherby last month. He showed signs of inexperience, but got the hang of things late on and pulled clear to win decisively. The water is deeper today, but I think he is open to significant improvement and should go close.
His current price of 7.26/1 on the exchange is more than fair.
Bun Doran is the current favourite at 2.186/5. He was visually impressive when winning at Haydock last month and clearly has more to offer. He is a deserving favourite but is no value.
15:35 Kempton - La Reve
La Reve could run well at a decent price in this competitive handicap.
This gelding put in a much improved effort last time out when beating Pete The Feat at Sandown. He took the lead at the last and forged clear to win with authority.
He was fitted with blinkers for the first time and they appeared to do the trick.
I think he has more to offer, and have backed him at his current price of 11.010/1 on the exchange.
Thomas Brown is an interesting runner. He steps out of novice company and looks fairly treated on his handicap debut. If his jumping stands up, he could be a danger to all.
16:00 Newcastle - Amys Choice
Point winner Amys Choice should run well on her hurdles debut.
This well related mare won an Irish point in 2014 and was subsequently sold at Brightwells. She is a half-sister to the talented Wymott and should be ready to do herself justice. In addition the Rose Dobbin stable is in good form.
She is trading at a reasonable 4.03/1 on the exchange.
Knocklayde Sno Kat could be the danger to the selection. He was travelling like a winner when coming to grief three from home at Carlisle earlier this month. He is improving with racing and is worth a saver at around 5.04/1.
