Nick Shiambouros returns with two strong fancies from the King George meeting at Ascot...
"His astute conditioner should have him ready to do himself justice, and I am expecting a big run"
14:10 Ascot - Dubai Hero
Dubai Hero should go close in this fascinating contest.
This Dark Angel colt was most impressive on debut when beating D'bai at HQ earlier this month. He cruised in to the lead just over a furlong from home, and pulled clear to win easily despite showing signs of inexperience.
I thought that was a fantastic effort from this promising individual and clearly has a bright future ahead of him. He is currently trading at [3.75] on the exchange which is more than fair.
Monticello could be the danger to the selection. He is unbeaten in two starts and is one of two runners for trainer Mark Johnston.
16:30 Ascot - Wings of Desire
Wings Of Desire is taken to win this historic race.
This colt finished fourth to Harzand in the Derby at Epsom last month. He had a chance two furlongs from home but was easily brushed aside when the pace lifted. I do not think he handled the soft ground, and is a lot better than the bare form suggests. He is best judged on his game victory in the Dante at York in May when beating Deauville in determined fashion.
He is the only three-year-old in the field and relatively lightly raced. His astute conditioner should have him ready to do himself justice, and I am expecting a big run.
He is trading at [5.0] on the exchange and I have backed him at this price.
French raider Erupt is an interesting runner. This colt bounced back to form when finishing second to Silverwave in the Grand Prix De Saint-Cloud earlier this month. He is a serious player and must be respected.
Dartmouth and Highland Reel are closely matched and come out of the Hardwick at Royal Ascot where the former gained a narrow victory.
