Nick Shiambouros returns with two selections from the superb Haydock card...
"The extended three mile trip should not pose a problem, and his rider claims a valuable 5lbs"
14:05 Haydock - First Flow
First Flow should prove difficult to beat in this fascinating contest.
This talented performer was most impressive when beating Dell Oro in testing conditions at Newbury last month. He made all the running, and pulled well clear over the final flight to win with any amount in hand. I thought that was a super effort, and further improvement is on the cards. He is proven on the ground and is fairly priced at 3.3512/5 on the Exchange.
Waterlord is another who will love the ground. He beat Mahlervous easily over this course last month and is heading in the right direction. He is the main danger, and is the second choice at 3.55/2 on the Exchange.
15:15 Haydock - Captain Redbeard
Captain Redbeard is my idea of the winner of this competitive event.
This gelding put in a much improved effort over this course last month when beating Catamaran Du Seuil in great style. He pulled clear on the run to the line, and was well on top at the finish. The extended three mile trip should not pose a problem, and his rider claims a valuable 5lbs. He has risen in the weights, but comes in to this race in good order. At present he is trading at 16.5 in the win market and 4.216/5 for a place.
Yala Enki is one of many dangers in this wide open race. He is a course winner and has no stamina limitations. The ground will suit, and looks saver material at his current price of 8.415/2 on the Exchange.
