Filippo ran far better than expected despite drifting from 10/1 to 20/1 on his debut when a half length second to Procul Harum here when losing a couple of lengths at the start before running on strongly over a furlong shorter. With trip and track ideal and improvement assured Filippo can land this for trainer Yogas Govender and get off the mark before moving on to better races.
Purple Diamond has taken three races for the penny to drop but seemed to appreciate the step up to six furlongs last time when a running on half length third to Alex The Great here and should do even better over this increased distance. Sean Tarry and S'manga Khumalo are a combination to fear and in good form at present and Purple Diamond looks the one they all have to beat today.
Romany Prince has to give weight away to all his rivals here, but the four-year-old son of Kahal has some decent form in top class races and can make the most of the lesser company he takes on this afternoon. Last time out he finished an eight and a half length sixth to the great Legal Eagle in the Horse Chestnut Stakes and a two length fourth to The Elmo Effect the race before, and nothing else in this race can match Romany Prince's form at that level.
