Timeform pick out bets from three different locations on Saturday.

Defoe - 14:25 Newbury

Defoe is progressing very well this season, winning all three of his starts, including when winning a listed race at Hamilton last time (beating subsequent Rose of Lancaster Stakes winner Frankuus). He can strengthen his St Leger claims by beating his elders over a trip which should suit. Frontiersman sets the standard but he was outbattled in a Group 2 at Newmarket last time and could be worth taking on. To Eternity may well get an uncontested lead over a trip she should relish so has to enter calculations.

Sophia's Rock - 16:30 Newmarket

Sophia's Rock got stuck in the mud at Goodwood last time but had been a good third in a Group 3 here prior to that and is taken to notch a third win of the campaign against a field full of older horses here. Second Wave and Danehill Kodiac are returning from long lay-offs but posted some really solid efforts in top handicaps last year and could be the pair to give him most to do.

Curtsy - 20:10 Bath

Curtsy refused to settle over a long trip than this at Chepstow three weeks ago but she is capable of better than that if using her energy up more efficiently here under Fran Berry and she probably has a bigger effort in her locker at some stage if she puts it all together. The Secrets Out and Volturnus are a couple of others to consider.
