Nick Shiambouros returns to Cheltenham with two more selections from a superb card...
"He is still relatively lightly raced and looks super value at [12.0] on the Exchange"
Apple's Shakira can upset the short priced favourite in this interesting race.
Trainer Nicky Henderson sends out this full sister to the smart Apple's Jade. On her only start in France she was most impressive when winning a minor event at Vichy. Interestingly enough her sister also won on debut at the same course. She is certainly bred for the job and looks an exciting prospect. She will be ready to do herself justice and is fairly priced at [2.92] on the Exchange.
The obvious danger is Gumball who is trading at [1.83] on the Exchange. This gelding is unbeaten in two starts this term, and was most impressive when beating Malaya at Chepstow last month. He is a deserving favourite but I think the selection will have his measure.
Ballyalton is my idea of the winner of this intriguing contest.
This talented performer finished sixth to Bags Groove in a handicap hurdle at Aintree last month. He held every chance two flights from home, but ran out of steam when the chips were down. Last year he won a competitive novices' handicap chase at the Festival and appears to be well treated. He is still relatively lightly raced and looks super value at [12.0] on the Exchange.
Kylemore Lough heads the market at [7.4] on the exchange. He won a Grade 1 novice chase in Ireland last year, and finished fifth to Frodon over this course last December. He makes his debut for trainer Harry Fry and should be razor sharp for this.
