Bets of the Day: Cymro to run another cracker at Chester

Cymro beating Sir Issac Newton at Chester
Cymro beating Sir Issac Newton at Chester

It was a disappointing start to the week as Alan drew a blank with his two Friday selections, but he is looking to get back in the winners' enclosure with runners at Chester, Newmarket and Market Rasen on a busy but quality racing day in the UK an Ireland...

"Cymro has already proven form at the track when winning his maiden by beating the highly respected Sir Issac Newton"

16:10 Chester - Cymro 1pt EW @ 5/1 Sportsbook

16:10 Chester - Cymro EW @ 5/1 Sportsbook

Racing History could be very well in here of a rating of 91 after easily winning his maiden at Haydock by five lengths over a mile on good to soft ground. However, despite a good low draw 5/4 seems plenty short enough for the lightly raced colt who has yet top go beyond a mile and at the prices I would rather be with Cymro.

Cymro has already proven form at the track when winning his maiden, beating the highly respected Sir Issac Newton (who went off 1/5 that day) over this trip in May. Cymro then went on to run poorly at Epsom on Derby day in a class 2 handicap on good to firm (Tom Dascombe was quoted as saying it was the fast ground that got the better of him that day), before holding off Lord Ben Stack by a neck when returning to winning ways two weeks ago on good to soft ground last time out at Haydock.

While I think Cymro would prefer it if the ground was more on the soft side of good, I will take a chance with him from the perfect draw, proven over the distance and on a course where he has already won. I will be backing Cymro EW @ 5/1 on the Sportsbook.

14:20 Market Rasen - Sea Lord @ 4.84/1 Exchange

Sea Lord fell after going off as short as 4/7 last time out at Perth in his chasing debut. However, today he returns to hurdles where he has won in six of his 14 starts, granted you have to go back a bit to 2013 to find his last win but he has run 2nd in a similar race to this at Aintree in May.

He is 16lb superior to his nearest rival on official figures and he has winning form here landing the Summer Hurdle in 2013. He looks the best horse in the field and providing he has no long lasting issues from his unsuccessful first outing over fences, he should be the one to beat here.

I think Sea Lord is overdue a win and will return to the winners enclosure today, I will be taking the 4.84/1 available on the Exchange.

16:35 Newmarket - Aranka @ 7/2 Sportsbook

The lightly raced Aranka looks interesting here, Luca Cumani's filly won her maiden at Windsor in decent style on good to firm ground. She then stepped up to a mile here last time out where she finished fourth but ran far too keenly at the start and managed to find trouble in running about a furlong from home.

While I am sure Luca Cumani is still trying to work out what her ideal trip will be, dropping back to 7f today looks like it could suit I will be backing Aranka @ 7/2 to win on the Sportsbook.
