14:00 - There doesn't appear to be much benefit in taking on the experienced WAY OF WISDOM (1), who looked quite clued up when making a winning racecourse debut at Newmarket recently, and he looks the way to go with the prospect of more to come. Weellan and Musbaq are both appealing newcomers and could well emerge best of the rest, though it's worth noting that Weellan's sibling Worlds His Oyster didn't excel on his sole visit to Ripon.
14:35 - Having been gelded over the winter ARNOLD (2) has got back on track in recent weeks, runner up on return prior to being left poorly placed the way the race developed when fourth at Ayr 2 weeks ago. He remains one to be interested in and gets the nod. Dual Lingfield scorer Termsnconditions is respected, despite his yard not being known for sprinters, however a better second string is URBAN SPIRIT (8). Jedd O'Keeffe's horses are in good form at present and he caught the eye on the clock when only beaten two lengths at Catterick last time.
15:10 - An open 3-y-o handicap, with the vote going to ALSHIBAA (4), who has been gelded following 3 maiden outings last year and is certainly bred to be better than this grade. He looks sure to do well over this trip (and further) and is preferred to the interesting filly Warm Love. Lucy's Law probably sets the standard from a form point of view and is respected accordingly, though she didn't show too much in her first three starts at this track.
15:40 - It's a shame that Weekend Offender is a non runner as he was progressive last season and remains one to keep on side having shaped very well on his return at Nottingham. MISS VAN GOGH (10) is another who caught the eye on return and she is preferred to Gurkha Friend who clocked a good time when making all here 3 weeks ago. Richard Fahey's filly showed her best form at this time last year and she shaped as if ready to get back to winning ways.
16:10 - Recent Lingfield winner Sandra's Secret and Blithe Spirit, who should come on for her two starts this year, are respected, however THE FEATHERED NEST (10) boasts some strong 2-y-o form and could be on a handy mark judged on her promising return at Doncaster. She's unexposed after just four starts and remains with potential.
16:40 - David O'Meara's LAMLOOM (6) has got better with each start and is narrowly preferred to Materialist, who was turned over at short odds at Thirsk last month, though that effort looks a bit better now in light of the winner's promising run since. Lamloom was unlucky to bump into another progressive sort when second over a mile at this track last month and she can gain a deserved win. Mathix and Immortalised are others in with a shout in a maiden with a fair bit of depth to it.
17:10 - PEARL NOIR bounced back to form when finding only a thriving sort too strong at Thirsk last week, and given he won this race 12 months ago from 5 lb higher, his claims are fairly obvious. Mighty Zip actually won a better race than this last time and is effectively only 1 lb higher, so has to be feared, with Entertaining Ben also considered on stable debut.
